Psychotherapy & Counselling
When you listen generously to people they can hear the truth in themselves, often for the first time.
~ Rachel Naomi Remen
Individual Counselling
There are times we know something is wrong but we cannot name it or make sense of it. Or we know what is troubling us but find it awkward to talk to someone about it, afraid what our loved ones or friends or even a counsellor might think.
What will happen if we continue to ignore what is troubling us? What will the impact be on our selves, our relationship with loved ones, our jobs? How will we feel about the situation if we set the issue aside for another week, month or year?
- discover the sources of your problems
- make meaning of what you are going through
- find new perspective to your situation
- make better choices
- learn new and effective coping styles
I see clients for short term and long term work. Sessions are either in person or via video calls. During sessions, we work together to address your concerns and how the issues can be solved, keeping your best interest in mind. Everyone has unique stories, with their own different ways of healing and personal growth. It is never possible to know how long it will take to work through an issue. Generally, for short term work, therapy can last from one to eight one-hour sessions. Throughout therapy I check with you to see if you are getting what you want from therapy, offer feedback, and address any worries you may have.
I also offer individual online counselling and psychotherapy for adults experiencing mental health concerns, life and relationship stressors.
Couples Counselling
People come to couples counselling for different reasons. The communication between the couple have become negative, or one partner has had an affair. The couple may seem to have become more like roommates than a married couple, or they both do not know how to resolve their differences. Disappointment, anger and fear begin to replace initial hope.
- to be aware on how they are interacting with one another
- on how to de-escalate arguments and communicate more effectively
- on re-building relationship and focusing on its strengths
- on how to cope with conflicts and manage major life events
