My sensitivity and compassion as a counselor, and the analytical skills I learned during legal training enables me to understand situations cognitively and emotionally, with clinical know-how.
As a counsellor, I guide persons through a process of self-examination, focusing on their thinking, emotional and behavioural patterns. I help clients discover and utilize tools and resources within themselves, in order to find solutions, heal and grow. I use an integration of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion and compassion focused therapy, and solution focused brief therapy, amongst others. I also focus on spiritual-religious coping, giving a more holistic approach, as and when requested by clients. I have a special interest in mindful awareness and positive psychology, whereby I use one’s strengths for more fulfilling relationships, health and work.
In my work as a mental health professional, I have been honoured to work with a great diversity of people who have struggled with a variety of concerns. I have been privileged to witness many people making positive changes in their lives. The work we do often focuses on relationship with one’s self and with others, emotional well-being, and giving meaning to life experiences. I work with both local and expatriate clients.
I find that counselling is most effective and successful when there is a strong collaborative relationship between the client and the therapist. This means respecting differences, being open and receptive in working together to a better you, for the life you want. Bring all your hopes and hurts and I will meet you right where you are.
