My sensitivity and compassion as a counselor, and the analytical skills I learned during legal training enables me to understand situations cognitively, emotionally, with clinical know-how.

Over the past 15 years, I have refined my therapeutic skills and knowledge to working with symptoms of anxiety, depression and relationship issues. I provide both individual and couples’ therapy.

As a counsellor, I guide persons through a process of self-examination. I help them focus on their thoughts, emotions and behavioural patterns. In addition, I explore with clients to discover resources within themselves. It is also important that I help provide them tools for everyday use. Doing so, clients find solutions, they heal and grow.

I use an integration of:

My approach is also holistic – I see the client as a whole person, exploring health, social, cultural/spiritual, physical well-being, and other areas that may promote or diminish their well-being or mental health.

I am trained and certified in the evidence-based approach of REBT-Tazkiyah An-Nafs (Mohd Zaharen, 2019). This model incorporates Imam Al-Ghazali’s Islamic counselling model (personal and spiritual purification). This model suits Muslim clients who prefer to combine an Islamic approach during therapy.

In my experience as a mental health professional, I have been honoured to work with a great diversity of adults who have struggled with a variety of concerns. I work with both local and expatriate clients.

I have a strong collaborative relationship with my clients. During sessions, we work together to address your concerns and your needs, keeping your privacy and best interest in mind. Bring all your hopes and pain and I will meet you right where you are.

In my 15 years of work as a mental health professional, I have been honoured to work with a great diversity of people who have struggled with a variety of concerns. I have been privileged to witness many people making positive changes in their lives. The work we do often focuses on relationship with one’s self and with others, emotional well-being, and giving meaning to life experiences. I work with both local and expatriate clients.

I find that counselling is most effective and successful when there is a strong collaborative relationship between the client and the therapist. This means respecting differences, being open and receptive in working together to a better you, for the life you want. Bring all your hopes and hurts and I will meet you right where you are.
